It happened Tuesday afternoon on Louetta and Terranova in northwest Harris County. Investigators say the mother lost control of her car and swerved into an oncoming SUV. The mother died at the scene. Her five-year-old daughter was airlifted to the hospital with critical injuries. She died overnight.
Her two siblings are expected to be OK.
SkyEye HD was above the deadly crash within minutes and personal trainer Kerry Huston had just greeted his next client at his gym nearby.
"My client heard a big huge, big huge crunch of metal and squealing brakes and everything," Huston said.
Investigators did skid tests to determine how fast the mother driving. They don't think she was speeding but they don't know why she lost control.
We spoke to Harris County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Mike Harvey just before he left to find the children's father.
"Telling this to kids, telling this to the rest of the family, it's not going to be easy. It's going to be hard, and they're going to need to pull together," Harvey said.
Investigators say the mother is in her mid 20s. Investigators say the children, who were between the ages of three and eight, were properly restrained.
The driver of the black SUV also went to the hospital, but her injuries weren't as serious.
Louetta was closed for about two and a half hours Tuesday evening after the wreck. The family lived near the site of the crash.
