Man accused of raping, robbing woman who stopped dating him

HOUSTON

Late Thursday, the Houston Police Warrant Squad slammed through the door of an apartment in west Houston. Eyewitness News was the only one there when police arrested the suspect.

When police came out of the apartment, they had with them Morris Mack Holton III.

"We saw Mr. Holton come out of the apartment. We attempted to arrest him and he ran into the apartment," said Pat Chaffin with the Houston Police Department.

We blurred the suspect's face because police tell us they're still involved in an active investigation. But what we know of the 26-year-old is that he is charged with aggravated sexual assault and aggravated robbery of his ex-girlfriend at an apartment complex also on the west side.

The female victim told police that she met Holton about two months ago and they dated a few times, but he became possessive and verbally abusive so she told him she did not want to see him anymore.

Court documents state on August 4, the woman let her cat out of the front door of her west Houston apartment when she saw Holton standing on her front porch. She says she was frightened and shut the door. She told police she continued to receive verbally abusive text messages from Holton.

Then on August 9, the woman says Holton was standing outside her apartment as she was leaving and she told him that she didn't want to see him anymore. Holton asked to use the bathroom, the victim says, and she let him. While standing in her kitchen, the woman says Holton came up from behind her and held a knife to her throat.

According to court documents, the woman says Holton tied her wrists and ankles with zip cords, shoved her daughter's underwear down her throat, tied a scarf around her mouth and wrapped a bandana around her eyes so she could not see. The woman says Holton then used a Taser on her, and continued to do so, burning her all over her body, and said he was going to rape, rob and kill her.

The victim says she heard a second male suspect enter her apartment and says he put a cold metal object in her back, which she says felt like the barrel of a gun, and sexually assaulted her. The woman says Holton then held a knife to her throat and sexually assaulted her.

Court documents say the woman says Holton said if she called the police, he would kill her young daughter and that the second suspect said he would kill the woman because she can identify him and he has already been to prison.

When the suspects left, the woman says she noticed that cash, jewelry, cameras and phones were missing from her apartment.

She was able to identify Holton in a photo lineup and that led to his arrest Thursday, where at first he tried to run and then was cornered in that apartment.

"He was in the living room. Just standing there. And he complied with all of our commands," Chaffin said.

Holton is behind bars. HPD won't confirm if they know who the second suspect is or if they've arrested him.

As of late Friday afternoon the investigator in the case had not returned our repeated calls requesting information about that second suspect.

Holton has a prior conviction for possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance in 2006.

Bond is set at $50,000 in this case.
