Driver runs away from major accident in SW Houston

Two people were rescued from this car after another vehicle slammed into them. The driver of that vehicle jumped out of his car and ran away, police said.

Police say the driver who caused a major accident in southwest Houston early Sunday fled the scene.

The accident happened at the intersection of Gulfton and Renwick around 3am Sunday.

According to police, the driver of a blue car ran a red light while southbound on Renwick. The blue car slammed into the side of a another vehicle.

That's when police say the driver of the blue car jumped from the vehicle and ran.

A man and woman were in the other car. Officials said they were pinned in and had to be rescued by firefighters.

They were both taken to area hospitals in stable condition.
