Progress reported against Sweetwater-area wildfire

MERKEL, TX Lone Star Incident Management Team spokesman Paul Ries says evacuations ordered for parts of southeastern Sweetwater on Monday night have been canceled after crews went from 10 percent containment of the almost-4,000-acre fire Monday night to 40 percent Tuesday.

He also said here was no serious threat posed by the fire Tuesday after 100 to 200 homes were thought threatened by the flames Monday night.

No injuries or lost homes or businesses were reported.
