Sugar Land police searching for robbery suspect

SUGAR LAND, TX

Jahlani Christian Slater of Houston is accused of accompanying two other suspects steal a check during a July 1 robbery at a home in the 2200 block of Blue Vista Court, according to Sugar Land police.

Detectives say the victim had invited a female friend over to his home that afternoon, and she spotted the check on the man's counter. She asked him a couple of questions about it and then sent several text messages.

A short time later, the victim heard a loud knock on the front door and saw two men, one armed with a pistol, outside so he didn't open the door. Investigators say the men then went to the back of the home and forced their way in and took the check. The woman left the house with the two suspects.

No one was injured during the robbery, but Edward Orlando Ponce, 19, of Houston, and Stacy Marie Standre, 18, of Richmond, were arrested and charged with aggravated robbery. Police are still looking for Slater.

Anyone with information regarding Slater's whereabouts is asked to call the Sugar Land Police Department at 281-275-2540. Tips can also be provided to Fort Bend Crime Stoppers at 281-342-8477.
