Robbery attempt ends with suspect, victim in hospital

HOUSTON

Houston police said three men were hanging out and drinking in the parking lot of an apartment complex on Sands Point near Gessner around 10:45pm Saturday.

According to investigators, another man approached them, pulled out a gun and demanded their money and beer.

They refused and grabbed the suspect and starting wrestling with him, officials said.

The gun went off three times, shooting one of the victims once in the neck.

They held the suspect there until police arrived.

The victim was transported to Memorial Hermann Medical Center in serious condition. The suspect was transported to Southwest Memorial in stable condition with minor injuries from the scuffle, officials said.

Police said there were two more suspects who were waiting behind. As they were fighting and their friend dropped his gun, the two other men came over, picked up the gun and took off on foot.

Police are looking for the two other robbers involved. They are described only as Latino males. Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
