Woodlands cancels July 4th fireworks display
THE WOODLANDS, TX
The Woodlands public fireworks display, one of the largest in the Houston area, has been cancelled.
The Woodlands Fire Chief released a statement Monday saying, "Based on the projected escalation in the drought index to dangerous levels over the next week, the Fire Chief and the President / General Manager of The Woodlands Township have determined that the 4th of July Fireworks show for 2011 will be cancelled."
All other activities of The Red, Hot & Blue Festival will go on as scheduled in Town Green Park and Waterway Square.
Residents have been banned from selling and using fireworks in Montgomery County because of the ongoing drought.
