Two killed when police chase ends in crash

HOUSTON Investigators are still waiting to notify next of kin before releasing the names of the 32-year-old motorcycle rider and his 45-year-old female passenger. Eyewitness News has learned a misdemeanor DUI warrant may have led to the suspect running from sheriff's deputies.

Fort Bend County sheriff's deputies say they tried to stop the suspect around 2am on Highway 59 near the Highway 99 overpass for speeding and having an obstructed license plate. The deputies say the rider took off, leading authorities on a short chase that ended at the west Beltway and Deerwood when deputies say the suspect crashed into another vehicle at about 90 miles per hour.

Both the motorcycle driver and his passenger were thrown off the bike. He died at the scene and she died later at the hospital.

The 19-year-old female who was driving the vehicle that was hit by the motorcycle was not injured.
