Motorcyclist dies after crashing into stalled vehicle

HOUSTON Around 3am, the motorcyclist was traveling outbound on U.S. 290 near Tidwell. Witnesses say he was speeding and weaving in and out of traffic as he approached a sports utility vehicle stalled in the left lane.

The motorcycle slammed into the back end of the SUV. The man on the motorcycle died at the scene. Police say he was wearing a helmet, but the impact was so great that it flew off.

No one else was injured in the accident, officials said.

The identity of the 30-year-old male victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
