One dead in SW Houston motorcycle wreck

HOUSTON

It happened just before 3:30pm at 6700 Almeda Genoa and Mykawa in southwest Houston. Police say a gray Mazda 6 was stopped at the red light at Almeda Genoa at Mykawa. The victim was operating a black GMI Moped north on Mykawa and attempted to turn east on to Almeda Genoa. As he made the turn, the victim lost control of the Moped and struck the Mazda.

The 61-year-old victim died at the scene. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

Police conducted a field sobriety test on the driver of the car, but police said she did not appear impaired.

Police say the investigation is continuing.
