Explosion reported outside LA-area Jewish center

SANTA MONICA, CA Sgt. Marty Fine says reports indicate that some kind of device hit the roof of a building and exploded at about 6:45 a.m. Thursday. The address of the building is for the Chabad House Lubavitch of Santa Monica, a meeting center for the Jewish movement.

The Santa Monica Synagogue is about a block away.

Fine says the type of device is unknown and it's unclear whether the blast was inside or outside of the building.

No injuries have been reported and there's no immediate word on the extent of damage.

FBI and Los Angeles County sheriff's bomb experts are on the scene.
