Bill to ban probation for murders passes House

That's when we spoke with Carolyn Hardin. Her 26-year-old son Steven was murdered in 1998 and the man convicted of the crime got no prison time, just 10 years probation and a fine.
On Wednesday, a bill by local State Rep. Scott Hochberg that would prevent jurors from giving convicted murdered only probation passed the house and is now in the hands of the state senate.
