Teen charged for bringing loaded gun to school

HOUSTON

Miguel Arevalo, 17, is charged with carrying a prohibited weapon in a prohibited place. Katy ISD police arrested the teen Tuesday at Katy Mayde Creek High School.

Arevalo allegedly brought a loaded weapon to school and showed it off to students in a restroom. Another student told authorities who found the student and confiscated the weapon.

The district sent a letter home to parents on Tuesday.

Arevalo posted a $5,000 bond and is expected to make his next court appearance on May 9.
