Texas storms leave thousands without electricity

DALLAS, TX Oncor Electric Delivery reported Monday that nearly 50,000 customers were without power, mostly in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. The Dallas-based utility says the rest of the outages were mainly in East Texas and South Texas. Crews were working to restore electricity.

San Marcos Electric Utility reported about 2,000 customers lost power after winds blew down a tree behind a wastewater lift station, bringing down a feeder line to the substation. A statement from the city, located 30 miles south of Austin, said most of the power was restored by late Monday morning.

The Texas Forest Service says 179 of the state's 254 counties have burn bans during the lingering dry conditions.
