On October 19, 2010, at approximately 2:45pm, Theodore 'Ted' Mitsakos was chased by Hispanic male suspects as they drove west on W. Bellfort. The suspects were shooting at Mitsakos' white Dodge pickup truck, and he was struck by gunfire. He wrecked his truck, striking another vehicle and the side of an apartment complex. The suspects were last seen driving westbound on W. Bellfort.

Mitsakos' friends describe him as a loving, caring man.

"We miss him dearly. He was like a brother to me and to many other people. He came here when I was five years old from New York and we've been together ever since. Family and friends are gonna miss him dearly," said the victim's friend, Jimmy Alexopoulos
