HPD officer paralyzed in line of duty passes away

HOUSTON Retired officer Vonda Higgins died Sunday from complications after a major auto accident. In February 1998, Higgins was working with the narcotics division when someone shot her and left her paralyzed. Officer Higgins spent three more years on the force and retired in 2001.

Higgins' funeral services will be held Friday at Brentwood Baptist Church in southwest Houston.
