Deputy constable struck by car while directing traffic

HOUSTON Investigators say Precinct 4 Deputy Constable Wayne Rose was working as a flagman for a construction crew Saturday morning on the Northwest Freeway and FM 1960. He was standing in the southbound center lanes when he was hit.

"A vehicle passed through and hit the right side of her car," said Deputy Phillip Lillibridge of the Harris County Sheriff's Office.

The deputy constable suffered a broken arm and a broken jaw, but is expected to recover.

The driver told investigators she didn't see the deputy, his flag or flashlight. No charges are expected.
