Houston ranks #3 of most stressed cities

According to Forbes.com, Las Vegas is the most stressed-out city, thanks to irregular work hours, high unemployment and hard hits from the housing crisis and recession. Add to that the inhospitable environment for outdoor exercise, and Sin City dwellers take the top spot.

Forbes ranked the the country's largest metropolitan areas using six criteria that can either cause or be caused by stress:

  • High unemployment
  • Long commute times
  • Long work hours
  • Limited access to health care
  • Poor physical health
  • Lack of exercise

Los Angeles takes the number two spot on the list, followed by Houston, then Tampa, Florida and Riverside, California.

Houstons placement on the list is credited to hard-working residents. Houstonians work the longest hours of any city ranked on the list. Unfortunately, many residents also lack health insurance.
