There were two different shootings across the Houston overnight area that left two men dead and detectives searching for suspects. Around 12:30am Tuesday, police were called out to a home on Groton near Leitrim Way in southeast Houston. Officers found Kenneth Dotson, 25, lying in the front yard. He suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say Dotson was just returning home from the store when he was met in front of his house by an unknown suspect who shot Dotson multiple times, killing him.

The gunman remains on the loose. Police say the motive for the shooting is unknown at this time

Another fatal shooting in NW Houston

About the same time, police in northwest Houston made a similar discovery. Residents at the Pine Forest Place apartments on Deep Forest near Pinemont say they heard several gunshots coming from the parking lot. When they went to investigate, they found a man slumped over in his car, shot to death. An unknown black male was seen running from the scene and getting into a waiting vehicle which then fled the scene in an unknown direction.

The male victim, 34, suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Homicide detectives suspect robbery may be the motive in this case. That gunman also remains on the loose.

Anyone with information about either of these cases is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
