The students at Betsy Ross Elementary School Friday dedicated their new community garden. They built the garden using a grant from the Texas Department of Agriculture. The garden project allows students to learn how to grow their own food and how gardening involves science and math. The students measure the growth of the crops every day and also sing to the plants.

The state funded nine such gardens this year in Texas including two in the city of Houston.
