Youth baseball coaches fined after game fight

TEXAS CITY, TX According to Detective Brian Goetschius with the Texas City Police Department, Jose Luis Duran, 38, and Johnathon T. Kimsey, 30, were arrested about 5:30pm Saturday at Godard Park. A crowd had gathered and police were called.

The men were coaching a youth game at Pee Wee field #2, when one coach allegedly called for a 'trick play' of some sort, Goetschius said. The call angered the opposing coach, who left th dugout during the game and approached the first coach.

The men, both residents of Texas City, argued until the incident turned physical, Goetschius said. Both were taken to the police station where they entered no-contest pleas to disorderly conduct charges during a night court session. They were fined $260 each and released by 10pm.

There's no immediate word on the ages of the baseball players, or a description of the play in question.
