Scholarship opportunity available for seniors

HOUSTON Cat Lift Trucks has announced the company will award two Houston-area high school students each with a $5,000 scholarship towards his or her higher education in Texas.

Scholarship winners from 2009 include Spencer Randall, a graduate from Ball High School in Galveston, who is attending Rice University and Brandon Hoffmann, a graduate from Clear Lake High School in Houston, who is attending Texas A&M University in College Station.

Scholarship Details:

WHAT: Cat Lift Trucks will award two Houston-area high school seniors each with a $5,000 scholarship for their higher education pursuits. Applicants must plan to attend an accredited college, university or technical school within the state of Texas and be majoring in mechanical engineering or a business-related field.

Students from public and/or private schools within Harris, Brazoria, Chambers, Fort Bend, Galveston, Liberty, Montgomery and Waller counties are eligible to apply. Recipients will be chosen based on academic record, leadership, honors, narrative responses and participation in school and community activities.

WHEN: Deadline -- applications must be postmarked by Friday, April 2, 2010, 5 p.m. This year's scholarship recipients will be honored at the Cat Lift Trucks Scholarship Reception in May 2010.
