A child was hurt after a van came crashing into a classroom full of children in Florida. Authorities say a mother dropped off her child at the daycare and then accidentally rammed her car into the building when she hit the accelerator instead of the brake. A 5-year-old boy was hurt and taken to a hospital after debris hit his arm. No word on whether the woman will be cited.
Teachers in the Perrysburg school district must now get permission from their principals before showing a movie in class. This is part of a new policy passed by the school board. Teachers must also get permission to show a movie in its entirety. The change was sparked when a parent complained about a teacher using too much class time to show a movie. Previously teachers could only show movies from an approved list or request permission from the school board.
Toledo firefighters were called out to a vacant house around 2:00 this morning on Hiett near Western. Crews tell us there weren't any injuries. Officials are calling the fire suspicious.
The House is set to pass a jobs bill, one that calls for a mix of highway funding and tax breaks for companies that hire unemployed workers. Some Democrats feel the Senate version of the jobs bill is too small but others seem intent on passing the first of several promised employment measures.

Two students at the University of Missouri have been arrested in connection with an alleged hate crime. Officials say the students scattered cotton balls outside the university's Black Culture Center last week. School leaders deemed that a hate crime. The University's African-American organizations said cotton is a reminder of slavery. The two students have been suspended.
A Wisconsin mall jewelry store is reeling after a robber grabbed a high-priced diamond ring and ran out. The diamond valued at $36,000 was swiped using an old trick. Store owners say if they're showing multiple pieces at once, it's easy to get distracted. The thief can quickly take the ring out of sight. The salesperson did take an ID from the robber, but it didn't help. Apparently the robber is a pro. This theft has been linked to robberies around the Midwest. The license he gave was a fake one. There was no surveillance video from this incident, making the investigation more difficult.
In an effort to address aging facilities, the Rossford school district is inviting the community to attend public tours of its facilities. The first tour is of Rossford Junior and Senior High Schools tonight from 6:30 to 8:30. The district says it wants the community's input to help determine the future of the district's facilities.

The Senate rejected President Obama's proposal to give a $250 bonus payment to people on social security. The proposal failed yesterday by a 50-47 vote. Some that opposed the idea said it would add $14 billion to the budget deficit.
