Missing Spring man found safe by rookie dog

HOUSTON Family members feared that without his daily medication, Pritchard may become disoriented. A search was launched including dogs, horses and a helicopter. Around noon Thursday he was located in a wooded area about one mile from his home.

Pritchard was found by a search dog with the Greater Houston Search Dogs team. The dog that actually found him was on its first deployment. Laura Recovery Center Senior Case Manager Dawn Davis said the dog must have had "beginner's luck."

The dog followed Pritchard all the way out of the woods and didn't take its eyes off of him until he was safely loaded into the EMT vehicle, Davis said.

Pritchard was found on the ground and taken to a hospital in northwest Houston, where he is in stable condition, according to Davis.
