Teacher accused of sex crime arrested

CLEVELAND, TX Kimberly Sinclair, a 25-year-old teacher accused of having a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old Cleveland Middle School student, is in custody in Cleveland. She was apprehended on Wednesday at a Conroe address.

Sinclair was a sixth grade English teacher at Cleveland Middle School at the time of the alleged incident. She has since resigned that position, according to school officials.

A warrant for Sinclair's arrest was issued last Thursday after she failed to come to Cleveland Police Department to speak with investigators after the sexual relationship came to light.

Cleveland Chief of Police Mark Bradshaw said, "Kimberly Sinclair advised she would come to Cleveland Police Department on Tuesday, October 13, to provide a statement of facts as to her involvement with the 15-year-old. Sinclair failed to make that appointment."

After her arrest in Conroe, Sinclair was transported to the CPD jail where she was booked and taken before Cleveland Municipal Court Judge Bob Steely, who set her bond at $100,000. Sinclair has been charged with sexual assault of a child, a second degree felony. Bradshaw expected that Sinclair would be transferred to the Liberty County Jail by Wednesday evening, where she likely will be bonded out.

Several agencies assisted CPD with the investigation and apprehension, including the U.S. Marshal's Office in Houston, Gulf Coast Violent Offender & Fugitive Task Force and the Montgomery County Sheriff's SWAT team.
