Serial robber chokes his victims

HOUSTON Investigators say the man hides in dark areas near sidewalks, laundry rooms and mailboxes, then approaches his victims from behind. The suspect is believed responsible for up to 17 robberies throughout southwest Houston since January. Many of those robberies happened on Richmond Avenue.

Police say the suspect is usually seen fleeing on foot, but has also been seen with a late 1980s or early 1990s model Ford Crown Victoria that is light gold, tan or beige. The suspect is described only as a black male in his late 20s to early 30s, 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall, and 200 to 220 pounds. A composite sketch has been released.

Anyone with information on the identity of the wanted suspect is urged to call the HPD Robbery Division at 713-308-0700 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
