RIO GRANDE CITY, TX --
A Starr County jury has sentenced the former police chief of a small South Texas town to probation for soliciting sex from a minor. Former La Grulla chief Alfredo Hernandez will serve 10 years' probation, pay a $5,000 fine and must register as a sex offender under the Wednesday sentencing. The indictment against Hernandez accused him of trying to talk a girl younger than 17 years of age into having sex with him last month. The girl, who was a student at La Grulla Middle School, testified against Hernandez.
