Which are America's worst sandwiches?

HOUSTON Sandwiches have come a long way since their invention more than 300 years ago. And some of it's not good for your waistline. Below are some of the worst sandwiches in America, according to 'Men's Health' magazine.

First up, the worst steak sandwich -- Quizno's large Prime Rib Cheese Steak. It has 1,490 calories, 92 grams of fat and 2,620 milligrams of sodium. Ouch! That's a day's worth of sodium, saturated fat and caloric intake in one lunch break. A better choice would be Quizno's Bistro Steak Melt Flatbread Sammie. It has 280 calories, 13 grams of fat and 645 milligrams of sodium.

Moving to chicken, chili's Cajun Crisper Bites sandwich weighs in at a whopping 1,410 calories, 79 grams of fat and 3,930 milligrams of sodium. The fried chicken, bread and sauces make the calorie count on this one as bad as 56 strips of bacon. A better choice is the Fajita Pita Chicken. It's 380 calories, 12 grams of fat, and 1,570 milligrams of sodium.

And not all veggie sandwiches are created equal. The Blimpie's Special Vegetarian 12-inch has 1,186 calories, 60 grams of fat and more than 3,500 milligrams of sodium. The fatty oils, sauce and bread ruin everything good about this sandwich. The 6-inch Veggie Max has half the calories and fat, and more than 1,200 milligrams of sodium.

And the worst sandwich in America, according to Men's Health, is Quizno's large Tuna Melt. It has more than 1,700 calories, 133 grams of fat and 2,100 milligrams of sodium. Blame the fat-packed mayo, bread and huge portion size. The Sonoma Turkey Flatbread Sammie has 280 calories, 14 grams of fat and, in comparison, a mere 760 milligrams of sodium.
