Roofer falls to his death at hotel

Around 4pm Saturday, police were called to the Crowne Plaza Hotel at 1700 Smith to investigate a report of a dead body in the parking lot. When they arrived, they found Rodolfo Chan Yah, 28, had suffered massive head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Yah was working for a roofing company hired by the Crowne Plaza Hotel to repair its roof. The preliminary investigation reveals that Yah accidentally fell three stories from the roof while working.

A representative from the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) is conducting a separate investigation.
