Shanay Smith and her two children had to be rescued from their home when it caught on fire in February. The five-year old daughter of one of the firefighters heard how the family had lost everything, and told her dad she wanted to give them her clothes and toys.

"She realized that these children also lost everything and she's ready to give to them and provide them with some clothes and toys to play with," said Beda Kent with the Houston Fire Department.

"I was glad. I didn't know they were bringing anything," said Smith. But I'm glad because we do need things and it really helps out a lot."

The family was injured in the fire. Smith says her daughter is doing well with her physical therapy, and that she expects to be out of her wraps by the end of the month.
