Gunman tries to carjack couple with baby

RICHMOND, TX On Saturday, just before 6pm, a family was nearly carjacked in the parking lot of Nick's Italian Restaurant in the 11500 block of FM 1464 in Richmond. The driver got out of the 2005 Lexus SUV and went around to the passenger door in order to help his wife unload their child when he heard an unknown male cursing. The victim then heard his wife advising him the suspect was armed with an unknown type handgun.

The victim dropped his keys on the rear seat, put his hands in the air and backed away from the vehicle. His wife took the baby and ran towards the restaurant. As the suspect attempted to start the vehicle, a third victim, visiting from Illinois, attempted to grab the weapon when a struggle ensued. The suspect then fled on foot and was seen getting in an unknown type blue Mercedes Benz that headed south on FM1464.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic or black male. He appeared to be in his early 20's with tattoos on both of his arms, approximately 5'5" to 5'7", weighing 130 to 150 pounds, with a dark complexion, and short dark hair with a thin mustache. He was wearing a white t-shirt, long dark blue shorts, and he walked with a limp.

Detectives with the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office are asking anyone with information on the suspect or the circumstances surrounding this incident to contact Fort Bend County Crime Stoppers at 281-342-TIPS (8477) or the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office 281-341-4665. Information which leads to the apprehension and filing of charges on the suspect involved could be worth a reward of up to $5,000. All calls to Crime Stoppers are anonymous.
