A fleeing gunman is dead, and four deputies are hurt, after bullets started flying during a police chase north of Houston. Investigators say they tried to pull over a stolen car in Willis Thursday evening, but the driver didn't stop. The chase continued on to Huntsville.

Police say the fleeing driver started firing at the pursuing squad cars. The suspect was finally cornered in a rock quarry. Investigators say he started ramming cars, and officers opened fire.

The gunman was killed. The deputies who were hurt only suffered minor injuries.
