Children found home alone

HOUSTON According to Gwen Carter with CPS, earlier this afternoon they got a call regarding two children who had been left home alone at an apartment in the 1200 block Redford near I-45. An HPD officer went to the apartment, and was able to get the older child to open the door, and they indeed were left home alone.

The children are brother and sister -- a six-year-old boy and a two-year-old girl. The kids were taken to a CPS office and information was left at the apartment. A short time time later, the woman called CPS, and says the kids were only alone for a half hour.

CPS officials are waiting to determine what they're going to do with the kids. The children appear to be in good physical health.

The woman reportedly has two other children. One is at daycare, and the other was with her.
