Funeral services were held this afternoon in Webster for a soldier from Dickinson. Army Sergeant Gregory Unruh died March 19th in Iraq. He was killed when his vehicle overturned during a reconnaissance mission. A military honor guard fired a 21 gun salute, and a soldier played taps during the graveside service. Sergeant Unruh grew up in the panhandle, then moved to Dickinson and graduated from the University of Houston Clear Lake. He was 28 years old.
Local soldier loses his life fighting in Iraq
HOUSTON Army Corporal Steven Candelo, 20, died last Wednesday when a rocket propelled grenade struck his vehicle in Baghdad. The corporal was assigned to a cavalry regiment based in Germany.
