The added airline could bring in some $168 million each year to the city.
"The service will mean for the first time, Houston is connected with the energy center of Moscow, which is the energy and gas and petroleum center for the Russian federation with Houston being the energy center of the world," said Michael Christensen with Singapore Airlines.
The 777 service connects to other Asian countries from Singapore. Quatar Airlines begins nonstop service between Houston and Quatar in November, meaning that Houston is becoming an easier destination for more foreign business travelers.
