UH softball opens C-USA play on road

HOUSTON No. 13 Houston is 22-3 this season and 5-2 all-time against Marshall.

The Cougars are led by senior pitcher Angel Shamblin, who has a 12-1 record this season and has a team leading 0.48 ERA this season. Junior Laurie Wagner has a team leading .426 batting average and junior Elaina Nordstrom leads the team with eight home runs and 27 RBI.

Marshall is coming off a 2-0 sweep of Memphis in their conference opener. They are led by Rachel Folden's team best .478 batting average.

Houston is continuing a two-week road swing with the Conference USA series. They were in Fresno, Calif., on March 7-9 for the Bulldog Classic. The Cougars went 5-1 at the tournament and then defeated No. 21 Fresno State 1-0 on March 11 before returning to Houston.

Following the Marshall series, Houston will travel to Blacksburg, Va., for one game against No. 24 Virginia Tech at 5pm on March 18. Following that contest Houston will face No. 19 Ohio State at 1pm on March 19 in Columbus, Ohio, before returning to Houston.
