UT athletics official under investigation

University of Texas police and Travis County prosecutors are investigating former Longhorns Associate Athletic Director Douglas George Wilson. The matter involves up to $60,000 missing from accounts Wilson oversees.

The search warrant was related to entrance fees for the annual Texas Relays track meet in Austin.

A February 8th search of Wilson's office found dozens of checks, many from high schools that participated in the meet in 2006 and 2007.

A week earlier, university officials searched a room where items are kept for the meet.

Officials found checks, cashier's checks, money orders and receipts -- dating back to 2003.

UT athletics spokesman Nick Voinis today declined comment on the investigation, but says Wilson no longer works in the office.

Wilson didn't immediately return a call for comment.
