TSU and all three HISD schools near the shooting scene are no longer in secure mode or under shelter-in-place.
HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Authorities say two suspects are wanted in a deadly shooting near Texas Southern University Wednesday afternoon.
The Houston Police Department confirmed a man was found fatally shot inside a car at about 2:30 p.m. near Ennis and Rosewood.
In a TSU alert sent just before 3 p.m., students were told to shelter in place as police searched the area for the suspects who were seen running off near the campus. That order has since been lifted, the university confirmed.
Houston ISD put three of its schools, Lockhart Elementary, Yates High School, and Blackshear Elementary, in "secure mode" for about 30 minutes due to the shooting. The schools have since been cleared.
HPD said the two suspects may have gotten in a silver vehicle, possibly a Chrysler 300, though the vehicle has not been confirmed.
In an update, authorities said that based on preliminary information, it appears the suspects were in the car with the victim at the time of the shooting.
The first suspect is described as a thin man with short dreadlocks wearing a white T-shirt, dark-colored shorts, and a white bag. The second is described as a heavy Black man with dreadlocks wearing a white shirt and a black bag.
A photo circulating among law enforcement shows the two suspects described above.
Police said they may know where one of the suspects is. It's unclear if they are university students.
Officials said they don't believe the victim, described as a younger man, was a TSU student.
