In this week's best free deals, from the Rodeo to the Rockets, there's something for everyone!

This weekend there's a gumbo showdown in town, and it's all free - even the tastings. This will be the first annual Mardi Gras Jamboree and Gumbo Showdown at Market Square Park. On Saturday there will be live music, a lighted art car parade, and of course a contest for best gumbo. It all takes place from 4 to 9 p.m.

The Rockets are at home this weekend, and if they win Menchie's has a treat for you. The Houston-area frozen yogurt shops are giving away a free 6 oz. cup of your favorite mix after every Rockets victory. Just go to your favorite Menchie's the next day between noon and 2 p.m. If they happen to lose Saturday, this deal is good all season.

Who doesn't love pancakes? Especially when they're free. This has become like a national holiday - it's IHOP's Pancake Day! This year it's Tuesday March 4. Anyone can come into the restaurant and get a free short stack of pancakes from open to close. They do ask that customers make a donation to the local Children's Miracle Network hospital. Guests who make a $5 donation will receive a coupon good for $5 off their next visit!

If you're a Chick-fil-A fanatic we've got good news and more good news. A new restaurant is opening in the Webster area. And the first 100 customers will win free chicken for a year! The store will open at 18323 Gulf Freeway Thursday, March 6, but people can start lining up 24 hours prior to opening.

Here is your opportunity to become a comedian. Every Friday night at 7:30 p.m., Station Theater's Intro to Improv class is free. Students are then invited to stay and watch a free show after class. If you're feeling brave enough, students are also invited to participate on stage during the show.

If your kids love the Lego movie, we've got a freebie they might just love even more. Barnes and Noble stores are hosting a LEGO Movie building event on Saturday. Kids ages 4 and older can build a scene from the #1 movie. We do recommend you sign up online before Saturday because space is limited and some locations are already full.

With the Academy Awards coming up Sunday night, movies are on just about everyone's minds. You can get some great deals from Redbox from now through Monday simply by texting TEN to 727272. The deals will include a unique freebie or discount coupon code via text every day. To find a Redbox kiosk near you, click here.

We couldn't give you this week's Friday Freebies without mentioning the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo! The Downtown Rodeo Parade is Saturday morning at 10 a.m. Horses, floats, bands, and more wind through the streets of downtown. For the parade route and more info, click here.
