The theater's director announced the overhaul for the existing building, highlighted by the extension of the Hubbard Stage. Patron areas will be expanded -- lobbies and bathrooms -- and all new seating will be installed in the Hubbard Stage. Further improvements include staging systems, backstage areas, heating and cooling systems, and building plumbing and lighting. The outside concrete will be cleaned, and the overhaul is expected to make the building more energy efficient.
Alley Theatre performances will be held at the Theatre at UH, located just off the Cullen Boulevard exit of I-45/Gulf Freeway. It is inside the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Center for the Arts building.
Work on the project will begin in July 2014, and is expected to be completed by summer 2015.
