Man fatally shot, dog wounded in southeast Houston home invasion

Police are investigating a deadly home invasion in southeast Houston.

Officers were called to an apartment complex on Lawndale and 75th Street around 6am.

According to police, two roommates were at home when three suspects ran through the door of their apartment, yelling, "Get down!"

The suspects reportedly fired two shots. The first gunshot killed the victim, and the second shot wounded a dog.

Police said the dog ran out the door and collapsed. He was taken to a nearby veterinarian.

The surviving roommate said his face was down and he didn't get a look at the suspects. According to investiagtors, it appears nothing was taken, and the shooting may have been drug-related. They said a small amount of narcotics was found in the apartment.

This case remains under investigation.
