A man is in jail after leading police on an overnight chase in southeast Houston, and officers say they have no idea why he ran.

According to investigators, it all started around midnight as a simple traffic stop. Police said they tried to pull over a Pontiac on Canfield and Tuam for a traffic violation, but the driver got out and ran into a neighborhood.

Police set up a perimeter around the block. A K-9 unit found the suspect hiding between two houses, and he was arrested.

Officials said the car was not stolen and he did not have any outstanding warrants.

He will be charged with evading arrest.
