Suspect jailed following armed robbery outside motel in The Woodlands

A suspect was arrested early Saturday after allegedly robbing a man at gunpoint outside of a Montgomery County motel.

It happened around 2am at a Best Western in the 17000 block of Interstate 45, just north of Highway 242 in The Woodlands.

According to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, the victim was walking toward his vehicle in the motel parking lot when the suspect approached him, pointed a handgun in his direction and demanded money. Investigators said the victim handed over an undisclosed amount of cash and the suspect ran away, escaping in a vehicle.

MCSO officials said the victim called 911 and gave an accurate description of the vehicle, which was soon spotted in Conroe. The suspect was reportedly still inside the car, along with the gun and the stolen money.

Christopher Jay Johnson, 25, was arrested and charged with aggravated robbery. No injuries were reported.
