Humble police investigating officer-involved shooting

Two men are in custody, including one whowas shot by an officer in Humble early this morning.

It happened around 4:45am off the Eastex freeway and FM1960 in front of Deerbrook Mall. Police tell us they were called to a burglary at an Ashley Furniture store and when they arrived, two men took off running in different directions.

According to police, one of the suspects ran towards Deerbrook Mall and was tackled by an officer. The two struggled and the officer was able to shoot the suspect in the arm. The suspect was taken to the hospital in unknown condition.

The other suspect took off up the 59 feeder road and managed to elude police for about an hour, but was spotted by a driver in the HOV lane. Officers converged on him and took him into custody without incident.

The officer was checked out and released. The suspect requires surgery for a bullet wound to his right elbow.
