Paid parking to begin Wednesday on Washington Avenue Corridor

April 30, 2013 1:17:59 PM PDT
Starting on Wednesday visitors along the heavily-traveled Washington Avenue Corridor will have to pay to park.

Parking meters will begin operating every day of the week from 7am to 2pm. The parking meters are the result of a new Parking Benefit District. The Washington Corridor PBD is bounded by Houston Avenue, Center Boulevard, Lillian Street/Decatur Street and Westcott Street.

A portion of the money collected from the meters goes right back to the Washington Avenue Corridor for community projects such as landscaping, street maintenance, lighting, and sidewalk improvements.
