Burglar at large after assaulting 15-year-old girl in shower

FRIENDSWOOD, TX

According to Friendswood police, the teen was home alone in the 16100 block of Bougainvilla when a man kicked in the front door around 10:40am.

Police said the girl was taking a shower at the time. The suspect reportedly realized someone was home, and he walked into the bathroom and stepped into the shower.

After a brief struggle, the victim was able to call police and the suspect fled on foot.

The victim told police the man said he had a gun. When officers arrived, they began looking for him but had no luck.

The burglar is described as a 19- to 20-year-old black male between 5 feet 11 inches and 6 feet tall. He was wearing a T-shirt and blue jean shorts or pants. He had short hair with stubble on his chin and had a deep voice, police said.

A police K-9 was able to track the path of the assailant into the Heritage Park subdivision near the area of Mountain Timber and Leigh Canyon before losing the scent. There is no description of a getaway vehicle.

Investigators are following up leads. Police officials are concerned because this crime may be connected to an incident nearby. On February 18 in the 1200 block of Arbre Lane, a burglar entered through the rear door of a residence while a female was home. The burglar stole a purse that was later recovered at a public park in the Heritage Park subdivision.

Anyone with information is urged to call Friendswood police.
