All lanes of the South Loop eastbound had been closed since early this morning due to a hazardous material spill when an 18-wheeler lost fuel and motor oil.
Traffic was being diverted off the freeway at the Telephone Road/Woodridge exit ramp and was backed up from Highway 288 to the west and Highway 225 to the east. Traffic also slowed on I-45 and 288 northbound.
Two left lanes were reopened at around 7:45am, then all lanes were cleared at around 9am.
