Lawrence Chambers faces murder and injury to a child charges. Police say he stabbed and beat his wife to death. Her 13-year-old son was severely wounded in the attack.
Chambers told his brother that his wife, Jemal, came at him with a knife and he lost it. However, prosecutors say the evidence does not support that assertion.
Many of Jemal's wounds were to the back of the head. There is also evidence Chambers forced open the door of a bedroom to attack Jemal.
Chambers is being held in the Harris County Jail without bond.
