Mayor proclaims Friday 'Dynamo Day' in Houston

HOUSTON

Mayor Annise Parker has declared Friday, November 30, 2012 as "Dynamo Day." Houstonians are encouraged to wear Dynamo orange or their Dynamo gear to work that day in support for the team as they head to California to take on the L.A. Galaxy for the MLS Cup the following day.

"The Dynamo have given us a spectacular first season in their new home at BBVA Compass Stadium," said Mayor Parker. "Now more than ever it's important to continue to show our team spirit. Dynamo fans are loyal and steadfast. I know they will be there for the team. Let's turn Houston orange on Friday in preparation for the return of the MLS Cup to Houston."

Mayor Parker also announced that City Hall will be lit orange through the weekend as an additional show of the city's support for the team.

"We are very proud to be representing Houston in the MLS Cup Final on Saturday," said Dynamo president Chris Canetti. "We have received great support from the community and hope to return the favor by bringing home the Cup. I look forward to seeing the City decked out in orange on Friday in preparation for the big game."

Fans are encouraged to submit photos of themselves wearing orange or Dynamo memorabilia to the Houston Dynamo Facebook or Houston Dynamo Twitter pages.

The Dynamo have won two MLS Cup Championships and four conference championships in the team's first six seasons.
