A former La Porte High School coach is accused of having an improper relationship with a student.

That teacher appeared before a judge overnight at the courthouse and posted bond after being arrested yesterday and charged.

La Porte police say Kevin Andrew Wheeler, 31, of Pasadena has been charged with two counts of having an improper relationship with a student.

What we know is that Wheeler worked as a teacher and a coach at La Porte High School during this past school year, when the alleged incident happened. After the school district learned of these allegations, Wheeler was placed on leave on May 16.

Wheeler was terminated from his job on June 12.

It remains unclear what subject Wheeler taught and what sport he coached. No details surrounding the charges are available, other than the incident happened with a 17-year-old female student.

Wheeler's bond was set at $100,000. He is expected back in court sometime later today.
